Originally planned for six weeks, the pilot was extended by an additional two weeks due to overwhelming student demand and engagement.

Over the course of the pilot:

2,240 consultations were completed by students

300 students actively engaged with the platform

• Each student completed an average of 7 consultation sessions, with some completing up to 30 sessions

• Students demonstrated an average performance improvement of 20%across consultations

• Reported OSCE confidence increased by 54%, rising averages from 5.36/10 to 8.25/10

These results highlight the transformative potential of AI-powered patient interactions in medical education. Compared with traditional simulation opportunities, often constrained by faculty time, resources, and access to patient actors, MedAscend enabled students to complete significantly more consultations in a short period, while receiving structured, consistent feedback.

The scale and speed of engagement, with thousands of consultations completed in just eight weeks, underscore both the demand for and effectiveness of scalable digital simulation in preparing students for clinical assessments and real-world practice.

This pilot provides strong evidence of MedAscend’s educational impact and forms the foundation for upcoming research collaborations and wider institutional rollouts across the UK and beyond.
