MedAscend is proud to announce a landmark partnership with the Arab American University (AAUP) in Palestine, marking the first adoption of our AI-powered virtual patient platform in the region. This collaboration brings our interactive clinical training technology to AAUP’s undergraduate medical students, expanding access to high-quality, immersive education in an area where resources and opportunities can be limited.

Empowering the Next Generation of Clinicians

The Faculty of Medicine at AAUP, under the leadership of Professor Malik Zeben, has launched the MedAscend AI interactive clinical training platform to modernise medical education and align it with international standards.

Through this partnership, students will engage with fully AI-powered virtual patients who can move, speak, express emotions, and respond dynamically to clinical questioning. Each consultation is designed to test and strengthen a student’s communication, diagnostic, and clinical reasoning skills in a safe, repeatable, and realistic environment.

MedAscend’s simulation engine evaluates performance objectively, providing instant feedback and personalised insights that help students build confidence before interacting with real patients.

A Step Forward for Medical Education in Palestine

This partnership represents a qualitative shift in medical training. For the first time in Palestine, medical students can practise live, conversational consultations with emotionally intelligent AI patients, bridging the gap between theory and practice while supporting consistent, scalable clinical education.

Professor Malik Zeben, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at AAUP, stated:

“This achievement reflects the University’s commitment to adopting modern technologies in medical education. Integrating AI into clinical training strengthens our leadership position in the region and aligns our teaching with global standards.”

Dr. Mahdi Al-Jamal, Head of the Department of General Surgery and coordinator of the collaboration, added:

“Launching this platform enables students to practise clinical communication and decision-making safely and innovatively. Our partnership with MedAscend sets a model for international collaboration and knowledge exchange.”

Shared Vision and Collaborative Research

Together, MedAscend and AAUP are committed to:

  1. Bringing virtual patient simulations to life through MedAscend’s proprietary AI engine

  2. Conducting joint research studies on MedAscend to advance the global evidence base for AI in medical education (with two peer-reviewed publications underway)

  3. Expanding access to students across the wider region

This partnership underscores both AAUP and MedAscend’s shared mission to make clinical education more accessible, data-driven, and human-centred.
